The Field Nurse Trust was set up in 2016 by a collective of local individuals with a common purpose of reducing the identified risks of physical and mental health of those living in rural areas.
The aim is to provide a health and well-being drop clinic at Gisburn and Clitheroe Auction Markets for farmers and rural workers of any age group.
Commission Crossroads Care Ribble Valley to deliver the service with professional nurses to provide a drop in clinic
Develop a team of volunteers to engage with visitors to the auction market to encourage them to take up health checks and use the service
Collect basic unidentifiable data to try and understand the needs of the community and adapt or develop the service accordingly
Signpost patients to other services Raise awareness of mental health issues in rural communities
What To Expect When Seen At The Drop In Clinic?
The clinic site will be clearly sign posted at the auction site on the days it’s running
You will be seen by an experienced registered nurse and you can be assured of complete confidentiality.
The nurse will be able to perform basic physical health checks like blood pressure and give advice about other health problems.
They will be able to sign post or refer to other services depending on the need of the individual.
WHERE CAN I SEE THE FIELD NURSES?
Drop in clinics currently run on Thursdays at Gisburn Auction Mart and on Tuesdays at Clitheroe Auction Market.
